choses maritimes - EWAN LEBOURDAIS

Official painter of the Navy, Ewan Lebourdais celebrates in Choses Maritimes ten years of photographic adventures.

From boats to lighthouses, from sea returns to winter storms, the book is the result of encounters, suspended moments and an insatiable curiosity. It tells the invisible links that unite humans and natural elements in a dance as fascinating as aesthetic.

Ewan Lebourdais's photographs are characterized by a style, an art of composition that balances strength and softness, tension and relaxation. The unusual history, the place and the moment of the shooting, the sailors present on board, the historical or aesthetic interest of the boat... each image of the book is singular. Their sequence was coordinated between the photographer, the author and the artistic director to propose a narrative that is both visual and literary.

Choses Maritimes is a book that conveys as much emotion to the connoisseur of the sea as to the most novice of readers. At any age, everyone can find an emotion, a reflection, a memory, united in front of this grandiose spectacle.

Printed with the greatest care by Escourbiac , Choses Maritimes is a beautiful book whose materials, papers and manufacturing are at the service of the quality of photographs.

Author biography: Marine photographer, Ewan is a great lover of water sports and marine elements. Over the last few years, he has seen his passion for photography grow within this iodized universe, trying different style exercises, until finding his own. In love with the maritime world in all its forms, the photographer immortalized in his viewfinder a wide range of sea images, from the mythical frigate Hermione to the acrobatic figures of Breton windsurfers, through the «mastodons» of the French Navy, like the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle and the nuclear submarines of Île Longue.

On 1 September 2021, by decree signed by the Minister of the Armed Forces, he became Official Painter of the Navy. For the past four years, he has been permanently exhibiting in an art gallery (La Baule, Ré, Dinard, etc.).

Biography of the author of the text: Christophe Agnus is now author of maritime works or thrillers, crowned by many awards. Son of a missing naval officer with his submarine, his life is marked by the sea and the thirst to tell the world.
